the wind pushed them upstream

~~~~~~~~2015 Race~~~~~~~
The 2015 race was unique .....
The Lord Mayor Brenda Arthur, and Sheriff Beryl Blower drew Lucky Dip Ducks before the race then after the, countdown heaved ALL the ducks into the river, then the fun began ...
The tide should have turned at around 4pm but the heavy rain made it later and that combined with the wind mean't the ducks went in the opposite direction and then just to tantalise the racegoers they changed their minds for a few minutes before a gust blew them on upriver, then a few broke away and made for the finishing line.
Then owing to time constraints the finish was moved towards the ducks and 5 winners were collected much to the relief of the hardworking Duck Race Team then a Little Lost Duck was selected at random from the back of the race.
The Lord Mayors Lucky Dip winners were:-
3169 Astra Meal for 2 at Wetherspoons
1770 Seagrove/Chilvers Hollywood Bowl
2714 Meal at Nandos
